Rima Fakih

Miss Michigan Rima Fakih crowned Miss USA 2010
The pageant was held on Sunday night, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, and saw 51 contestants competing for the title.

Fakih wins despite a fall
Miss Michigan Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA after swimsuit, evening gown and interview competitions.

During the competition, the gorgeous brunette nearly stumbled in her long, strapless gown because of the length of its train, but soon recovered and ultimately took home the crown, reports The Associated Press.

During the interview portion, Fakih was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance, to which she replied yes.

The Arab American beauty from Michigan beat out 50 other women, including four blondes, to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night.

The first Arab-American to win the title
Fakih is believed to be the first Arab American and Muslim to become Miss USA. She is also the first Michigander to win the title 1993. She won the Miss Michigan title on Sept. 19, 2009.

During the interview portion, Fakih was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance, to which she replied yes.

She said, “I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance.”

Fakih, who replaces Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton, won a spot representing the United States this summer in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant, a one-year lease on a New York apartment with living expenses and an undisclosed salary.

When asked how she felt about winning the crown, Fakih said, "Ask me after I've had a pizza."

Runner-up ladies
Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard was named First Runner Up. She was asked about Arizona’s new immigration law, and said she supported the law, which requires police enforcing another law to verify a person's immigration status if there's "reasonable suspicion" that the person is in the country illegally.

Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey was the second runner-up, Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman was third runner-up, and Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier was the fourth runner-up, according to the AP.

The 59th Miss USA pageant
A panel of eight judges included an eclectic mix: Carmelo Anthony of the NBA's Denver Nuggets and a two-time Olympic medalist; Miss USA 2006, Tara Conner; best-selling author, chef and host of four shows on The Food Network, Paula Deen; star of NBC's hit comedy series, ‘The Office,’ Oscar Nunez; American businessman and real estate mogul, Phil Ruffin; Executive Fashion Editor at Large of Glamour magazine, Suze Yalof-Schwartz; model, Melania Trump, who has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair; and three-time National Champion figure skater and Olympian, Johnny Weir.

The 59th Annual MISS USA Pageant was hosted by internationally-renowned chef and current ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ contestant Curtis Stone and ‘Today’ show co-host and correspondent Natalie Morales, with commentary by comedian Joan Rivers and her daughter Melissa.

According to CNN: “Araceli Vega, a nurse in the hospital, told CNN that she was treating a patient when she felt the building rattle, followed by a short moment of fear and confusion.”

The South American continent has been rattled by a few earthquakes in 2010 with the major devastating earthquake which struck Chile earlier this year and a Peru earthquake which took place just a few weeks ago.

Ronnie James Dio

RONNIE JAMES DIO Is Not Dead
Contrary to published reports, legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) **has not** died after a six-month battle with stomach cancer.

After rumors started circulating via the Internet late Saturday that Dio had lost his cancer fight, BLABBERMOUTH.NET reached out to Ronnie's wife/manager Wendy Dio, who sent back the following message at approximately 11:35 p.m. PST on Saturday, May 15 / 2:35 a.m. EST on Sunday, May 16:

"I am at the hospital and Ronnie has NOT passed away!!!! He is not doing
good, but he is not dead.

"I will let you know if anything changes.

"Thank you for your concern."

It was only a month ago that Dio, 67, spoke about his battle with cancer with the Artisan News Service on the "black carpet" of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which took place on April 8 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. When asked about how he had been feeling since he was diagnosed with the disease late last year, Dio said, "Well, I feel good and bad at times. It's a long process. Chemotherapy is a... I never realized what a difficult thing it was to go through. It's a real cumulative effect — the more you have, the more it piles up on top and it takes longer and longer to get over it. I find it very difficult to eat. I don't like to eat anyway, so I guess that's OK. But I know I have to. But this makes it very, very hard. But if you're determined to beat it, then you have to go with what you believe is going to beat it for you, and in this case it's that. I go to a great hospital in Houston called M.D. Anderson, which I think is the best hospital in the world, I have the best doctor in the world, Dr. Ajani, who I really trust and I really believe in, so I think I've done all the right things. It makes me feel positive about my life and positive that there is a lot more of it to live."

Earlier this month, HEAVEN & HELL canceled its summer tour plans in Europe due to Dio's treatment for stomach cancer. The band said in a statement that Dio wasn't "well enough to tour this summer. We hope that everyone understands and want to thank fans and industry colleagues for their continuing support at this time."

Ronnie James Dio has performed with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO. Other musical projects included the collective fundraiser "Hear 'n Aid". He is widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He is currently involved with HEAVEN & HELL, a project which also included former BLACK SABBATH bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice. Their first studio album, "The Devil You Know", was released on April 28, 2009.

Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath are an English rock band, formed in Birmingham in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (lead vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (electric bass), and Bill Ward (drums and percussio
n). The band has since experienced multiple lineup changes, with Tony Iommi the only constant presence in the band through the years. A total of twenty-two musicians have at one time been members of Black Sabbath. Originally formed as a heavy blues-rock band named Earth, the band began incorporating occult- and horror-inspired lyrics with tuned-down guitars, changing their name to Black Sabbath and achieving multiple platinum records in the 1970s. Despite an association with occult and horror themes, Black Sabbath also composed songs dealing with social and political issues such as drugs and war.

As one of the first and most influential heavy metal bands of all time,[1] Black Sabbath helped define the genre with releases such as quadruple-platinum Paranoid, released in 1970.[2] They were ranked by MTV as the "Greatest Metal Band" of all time,[3] and placed second in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" list, behind Led Zeppelin.[4] They have sold over 15 million records in the United States alone.[5] Rolling Stone has posited the band as 'the heavy-metal kings of the '70s'.[6]

Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne's drinking led to his firing from the band in 1979. He was replaced by former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio. After a few albums with Dio's vocals and his songwriting collaborations, Black Sabbath endured a revolving lineup in the 1980s and 1990s that included vocalists Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Tony Martin. In 1992, Iommi and Butler rejoined Dio and drummer Vinny Appice to record Dehumanizer. The original lineup reunited with Osbourne in 1997 and released a live album, Reunion. The early/mid 1980s line-up featuring Iommi, Butler, Dio, and Appice reformed in 2006 under the title, Heaven & Hell.

Ronnie being interviewed by "VH1 Classic "That Metal Show" co-host Eddie Trunk at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 8, 2010 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles:

KING TUT'S, GLASGOW
THERE'S a certain novelty in hearing a petite Japanese girl state her admiration for British 1970s heavy metallers Richie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio, and then ADVERTISEMENT

watching her demure band grind through a loud, sludgy pastiche of that genre. J-Pop triADVERTISEMENT

o Shonen Knife aren't some kind of novelty act though, they're a first-rate pop group in their own right.

For nearly 30 years, this band (the name means Boy Knife) have been mashing Western rock, punk and girl group styles together with their own Osakan aesthetic. Introduced to a transatlantic audience by the patronage of hipster outfits like Nirvana and Sonic Youth, the Knife's approach has remained fresh over the band's career – as has their last remaining founder member, singer and guitarist Naoko Yamano, who will be 50 this year but could easily pass for half that.

Showcasing songs from their last but one album Super Group (the last, Free Time, hasn't yet been released in the UK) and wearing the colourful tunic-and-trousers uniforms from its cover, the band played a set characterised by manic, gleeful energy. Bassist Ritsuko Taneda grinningly devil-horned every other song, recently-drafted drummer Emi Morimoto leaped on to her seat to top off a human pyramid shape during the rumbling Pyramid Power, and Yamano introduced an encore cover of Wings' Jet as being "by one of my favourite artists". It was both loveable and glorious, much like her band.

Another Strikeforce event. Another counter-programming special from Spike TV and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

While Strikeforce hosts a Showtime-televised "St. Louis: Heavy Artillery" card on Saturday from the Scottrade Center, Spike TV airs seven of 2010's best UFC fights as part of a two-and-a-half hour "UFC Ultimate Fights" special that begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Featured bouts includes the already-legendary WEC 48 fight between Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung, as well a UFC 111 interim heavyweight title fight between Shane Carwin and Frank Mir.

Other bouts slated for the special include Mark Munoz vs. Kendall Grove (UFC 112), Terry Etim vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (UFC 112), Matt Serra vs Frank Trigg (UFC 109), Nate Diaz vs Rory Markham (UFC 111) and Paulo Thiago vs Mike Swick (UFC 109).

Spike TV, the UFC's cable home since 2005, began counter-programming in 2008 when UFC Fight Night 14 went head-to-head with "Affliction: Banned." Since striking deal with CBS and Showtime, though, Strikeforce has since been a frequent target of the UFC's counter-programming. For example, Strikeforce's first CBS-televised event, "Fedor vs. Rogers" in November, went against a "UFC Main Events" two-hour special that featured four major bouts from the UFC's 2009 calendar.

Presidential Proclamation — Armed Forces Day, 2010

America’s Armed Forces represent the very best of our national character. They have answered the call to defend our Nation, and their service and sacrifice humble us all. On Armed Forces Day, we pay tribute to these patriots who risk their lives, sometimes giving their last full measure of devotion, to preserve the vision of our forebears and the freedoms we enjoy.

Our service members carry on the proud traditions of duty and valor that have sustained us from our earliest days of independence. Today, we have the greatest military force in the history of the world because we have the finest personnel in the world. Wherever they are needed, from Iraq and Afghanistan to right here at home, they are serving and protecting our Nation.

We owe our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen more than our gratitude; we owe them our support. That is why my Administration is committed to ensuring they have the strategy, clear mission, and equipment they need to get the job done, and the resources they deserve when they come home. We are also increasing support for military spouses and families who must deal with the stress and separation of war.

Today, let us raise our flags high to honor the service members who keep us safe, as we reaffirm our commitment to fulfill our duty to them.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, continuing the precedent of my predecessors in office, do hereby proclaim the third Saturday of each May as Armed Forces Day.

I direct the Secretary of Defense on behalf of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Secretary of Homeland Security on behalf of the Coast Guard, to plan for appropriate observances each year, with the Secretary of Defense responsible for soliciting the participation and cooperation of civil authorities and private citizens.

I invite the Governors of the States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and other areas subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, to provide for the observance of Armed Forces Day within their jurisdiction each year in an appropriate manner designed to increase public understanding and appreciation of the Armed Forces of the United States.

I also invite veterans, civic, and other organizations to join in the observance of Armed Forces Day each year.

Finally, I call upon all Americans to display the flag of the United States at their homes on Armed Forces Day, and I urge citizens to learn more about military service by attending and participating in the local observances of the day. I also encourage Americans to volunteer at organizations that provide support to our troops.

Proclamation 8380 of May 14, 2009, is hereby superseded.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand ten, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-fourth.

Juan Carlos Cruz

Former TV chef Juan-Carlos Cruz Arrested In murder-for-hire plot, Released on bail
California police yesterday said that the former host of Food Network's "Calorie Commando" Juan-Carlos Cruz is accused of plotting to hire homeless people to carry out a murder.
However, the Santa Monica Police Department refused to divulge details about the target sought by Cruz or the alleged murder plot.

Police added that the plan failed when the homeless people recruited by the TV host told officers with the Santa Monica Police Department's Homeless Liaison Program about the plan.

"The individuals who were solicited agreed to assist the Santa Monica Police Department in the investigation," a police statement said. "The results of the investigation revealed the murder-for-hire method, where and when the individual was to be killed, and the terms of payment," added the statement.

Authorities said that the investigation began on May 7 and Cruz was taken into custody two days ago. He was later released on a $5 million bail on a charge of solicitation to commit murder.

SANTA MONICA, Calif, California police say the former host of a Food Network show is accused of soliciting homeless people to commit a murder.

Have experience with "LinkBucks"?

here are some Experinces that people comment about linkbuck

Not recommended for newbies
I rate this a C. They are paying but you got to have insane amount of traffic to make a living out of this. I get paid about $5 to $10 per month with LinkBucks. Not bad because I just spend 5 minutes to link it to my websites and just leaving it just as it is. Recommend it as a side income

I rate it a C
I have been using LinkBucks little over 3 months, and I am kind of wasting my time on there. I thought it would help bring in extra income, or just side cash, and it is not doing a a very good job. It is hard to get money once you lose it. And you can lose money for no reason. I been paid by them once. They sent me the $5 I earned instantly, I like that. However, I do not think you should waste your time with LinkBucks. I rate LinkBucks a C. I think LinkBucks would be a lot better if you could not lose money randomly. I think that is crazy.

Can be good if you work hard
After trying Linkbucks for some time I realized something. You really have to work hard to make even the tiniest amount of cash. I spent a lot of time promoting my links and putting up posts, to end up with pocket change. This is only worth it if you have a site of massive traffic.

Not worth it, Site not stable
First off I would like to say that I've been using linkbucks for quite a while now, and I'm not surprised. You basically make links and get paid every time someone clicks your link. The site randomly goes down during the day and during those times none of your links work, this is very annoying and you lose money for no reason. Also it is very hard to get money there. And sometimes the money counting system doesn't work right, for example yesterday I got about 2000 clicks which should give me about a dollar, but instead got $. 13. The site does however pay you once you reach the minimum payment of five dollars, I've paid twice, the payment was instant, which is a very nice feature.

Nice program but needs hard work
This site is an excellent program where you get paid when people click on your link. Many sites like this where you get a certain amount of money depending on how many hits the links you receive, but some of them are scams and we do not get anything. LinkBucks pays you based on the amount of clicks and people have to wait 15 seconds before they reach the link to download. The great thing about linkbucks is that they have different kinds of scripts and ads which makes it more user friendly. I have average daily hits to my site, and LinkBucks makes me about 5 dollars a month. This is not a lot, and the only way you can make hundreds of dollars with LinkBucks is if your site receives tens or even hundreds of thousands of hits a day.

If you want to make an extra bit of money, I would recommend this.

Just another waste of time

When I tried linkbucks, it took me almost 3 months to reach their minimum payout. It is not recommendable for beginners, you will only waste your time. Posting to forums and others is not enough. You will be needing a website with a huge traffic and it is much better if that site is your own. You will be needing a lot of patience and hardwork. They actually pay, but if you don't know what you are doing, it will only waste your time.
