Today is the birth day of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo de Rivera. Google is paying homage to the artist via its Google doodle. She is also known for self-portraits. She once said, “I paint self portraits because I am the person I know best.”

Frida Kahlo de Rivera was born on July 6, 1907. She died on July 13, 1954. She is know “pain and passion” using intense, vibrant colors. Her style “close to folk art” was influenced among others by indigenous cultures of Mexico, European Realism, Symbolism, and Surrealism. Many of her works are self-portraits. Kahlo was married to Mexican muralist and communist Diego Rivera.
